On the Road

One nice thing about a road trip, (besides the singing, camaraderie, and strengthening of bonds) is the unexpected adventures you don’t anticipate.

While travelling with two other friends in Scotland (one being our trusty Scottish guide and driver),  I had been admiring the landscape but bemoaning the fact that I didn’t have any great “people pictures.”

At just this moment,  while exploring the island of Skye, we came  upon a small cottage by the Sea.   And being the curious (some say nosy) traveller that I am, I began to photograph the unique scene, complete with bathtub out front.

It was then that we met Wullie, one of the more colorful chaps we encountered along the way.

A transplant from Glasgow, Wullie  lived in this charming cottage with his two puppies, ribbons from a dog show, and a few other prized possessions.

Wullie was the perfect subject, chatting and talking, all the while never tired of posing with his Paul Newman blue eyes.

  1. Intriguing!. This photo story piques my interest. Would love to know more about his life, his dogs, Debbie who loves him? What did he chat about? Was he funny? Did he take himself seriously or laugh at his quirky life style? How did he support himself? I like some of his artwork and crafts. Obviously has enough for his cell phone. Obviously a
friendly, personnable guy with social skills.

  2. Susie,
I love the images. It looks like you captured his personality so nicely. So the lesson is when it appears you cannot find “your” man just keep looking 🙂
    Great images!!!!
