After suffering the terrible polar vortex, I was pleasantly surprised on Sunday when the temperature rose to a balmy 56 degrees.

Having arranged to meet for dinner on the Upper West Side, I decided to drive in early and take a side-trip to Harlem and see if the much heralded gentrification was really evident.

While strolling down Frederick Douglas Boulevard, I encountered all types of people, including a fierce group of Black Hebrew Israelites, as well as a wonderful brass band playing in front of the United House of Prayer for All People!

A crowd had gathered to listen, and while I tried to capture the essence of the street scene, I felt happy to be a  part of the music.
