Catch of the Day

Recently, I had the pleasure of spending a week with an old friend in a small fishing village named Playas de Coco, in Guanacaste Province, Costa Rica.

Situated on the Pacific side of the country, it is one of the oldest beach communities in the area, and the local “Ticos” can be found fishing at all hours.

While exploring the beach one day, I happened upon the locals and their fishing boats, and they were happy to let me photograph their business.

I enjoyed the way these men took pride in their work, smiling and laughing throughout their busy day, even teaching their craft to their young.

Needless to say, there was an abundance of fish to buy in this village, and the Mahi Mahi cooked fresh on the grill was delicious. As they say in Costa Rica, “Pura Vida.”

  1. Love the Costa Rica fish: action shots and the ones with the kid. This fishing essay fits with the Hamptons one. Perhaps fisherman of the world. Next Serbia(?)
